When will I die? Where will I die? How will I die? These are questions that have been running through my mind for some time now. And I think it is very clear that none of us have a clue as to what the answers of these questions may, be should they think about it themselves. Let us take a look at the story of Dorcas in Acts 9:36-42. Dorcas was a generous Christian widow who just got ill one day. I believe they tried all the medication there was to try but to no avail. Unfortunately, this sickness led to the sudden demise of this widow. I am certain, Miss Dorcas nor her friends never expected this misfortune.
Now when you read the story of King Hezekiah (2 Kings 20:1-6), he got sick too and the bible said, he was “near death”. King Hezekiah wept bitterly and cried to God and said, “Lord remember my loyalty and all I have done for You…”. And God heard his prayer, healed him and extended his age, fifteen (15) more years. Wow! I believe the only reason God responded to his wishes was because of his loyalty and service to God and his Kingdom. What are you doing for God? What are you doing for His Kingdom?
When we go back to Dorcas’ story, you will see that God through His Apostle Peter, brought her back to life. I believe this was so because of all she did for the God and His Kingdom.
Hear me, there is coming a time in our lives that we shall definitely die, all of us. But for the “when”, “where” and “how”, none of us knows. This is why it is very important to take God seriously and also be very active in His Kingdom.
